This award has been made possible by Lady Helen Hamlyn, the Chair of the Helen Hamlyn Trust.
The Trust works to develop innovative projects with the aim to effect lasting change, improve quality of life and create opportunities for the benefit of the public.
Internationally recognised for her design aesthetics and philanthropy, Lady Hamlyn has been involved with the IMarEST and the Guild of Benevolence since the 1940s through her father, who was a chief engineer.
How to apply
In order to apply, candidates will need to provide contact details for themselves (complete with IMarEST ID number), as well as a completed referee form to be filled out by a referee at the business at which the candidate is conducting their apprenticeship.
Candidates must also include a personal statement (800 words max) that outlines:
- Relevant academic qualifications
- Why and how they would benefit from receiving the award
- How it would help them through the duration of their apprenticeship
- A description of the project or apprenticeship activity and how/what skills they have developed as a result
- A brief passage on an intended/potential 3-5 year career plan the candidate would like to pursue following successful completion of their apprenticeship
- Previous IMarEST Award applications (if applicable)
