Artificial Intelligence in the Maritime Domain

  • Overview

Artificial Intelligence (AI) and machine-learning techniques have immense potential for improving efficiency and safety across the marine sector e.g. optimising ship hull forms, health monitoring for ship engines, predicting the spread of oil spills, preventing ship collisions, modelling ocean circulation or rogue waves. However, they also create new challenges, particularly where safety is concerned.

The AI SIG aims to monitor ongoing progression in this field to support knowledge and development of the IMarEST membership. The SIG also strives to contribute to the technology debate by developing position papers, webinars, and an online discussion group to share the latest developments in the industry.

If you are interested in joining the group, sign into the MyIMarEST member portal and select the group from the list.
